Fender Japan, built by FujiGen Gakki. The JV (Japanese Vintage) series (1982–1984) were painstaking recreations of pre-CBS Fenders, so good they embarrassed the US-made Fenders of the same era. Japanese Fenders from this period are now highly collectible.

Eddie Van Halen's signature guitar was produced from 1991 to 1995 — only about 600 Sunburst models were made. Van Halen reportedly left because EBMM couldn't manufacture enough to meet demand. The design was retained and renamed the "Axis."
